Choose a Payment and Household Scenario
The Centrelink calculator estimates public payment amounts from the household facts you enter. Choose one income-support payment, then use the separate family-assistance or financial-scenario panels when relevant.
Age Pension is a government payment subject to qualification and means tests. Superannuation is retirement savings held in a fund. Enter assessable super balances here and use the superannuation calculator for fund growth and retirement withdrawals.
The payment panel uses the Services Australia payment guide for 20 September to 31 December 2026. It models standard domestic rates. Transitional pensions, overseas proportional rates, blind-person exemptions and special trust assessments need their separate treatment.
Select whether other requirements are met. That assumption covers residence, applicable waiting periods and activity rules. For DSP it also covers the disability requirements. For Carer Payment it covers caring qualifications and any care-receiver means test.
Age Pension requires age 67 in the current schedule. Parenting Payment uses a youngest-child age below 14 for a single principal carer or below six for a partnered principal carer.
JobSeeker uses age 22 to below Age Pension age. Youth Allowance supports students aged 16 to 24 or job seekers aged 16 to 21. Austudy uses eligible study from age 25.
Apply Income, Asset and Deeming Tests
Pensions use the lower result from their income and assets tests. Allowances generally stop when assessable household assets exceed their limit. Dependent student tests have different asset treatment.
The current single pension income free area is $226 per fortnight. Income above it reduces pension by 50 cents per dollar. For couples, the combined free area is $396 and each pension reduces by 25 cents per dollar.
Deeming applies a public assumed return to financial assets. It replaces actual returns from those assets in this model. Avoid entering the same bank interest or investment return again as other income.
In the default single pension example, $180,000 of financial assets produces $5,414 of annual deemed income. Earnings of $450 less the $300 Work Bonus leave $150. Other income of $80 produces total assessable income of $438 per fortnight.
The income test reduces the $1,237.70 maximum by about $106, leaving an indicative $1,132 per fortnight. The $240,000 asset total is below the homeowner free area of $333,000.
Enter business income under the applicable assessment rules, not the gross bank deposits. Annual family-assistance income differs from the fortnightly income-support test. Taxable income has its own definition.
Maximum basic rates and supplements appear separately in the component table. The final payment reflects the controlling test. Tax liability is outside this tool.
Age Pension, Parenting Payment and student or jobseeker allowances are generally taxable. DSP below Age Pension age is non-taxable. Carer Payment is taxable when either the carer or care receiver reaches Age Pension age.
Family Tax Benefit, Rent Assistance and Energy Supplement are non-taxable. Pension Supplement has a taxable basic component and a tax-exempt remainder. A payment’s tax treatment does not determine its means-test treatment.
Compare Pension and Household Changes
The pension comparison keeps one schedule for both cases. It can change earnings and partnership alongside an inheritance, super withdrawal, gift or principal-home sale.
An inheritance held in a bank increases financial assets and deemed income when received. Spending it on the principal home or paying a debt has a different asset result. The inheritance itself is not entered as wages.
A super withdrawal already included in financial assets moves the same balance between categories. The comparison removes that original amount before applying its new use, preventing a second asset count.
Gifts above $10,000 in a financial year or $30,000 across five financial years remain assessable for five years from the gift date. Enter earlier gifts chronologically with their dates so the rolling allowance can be applied.
For home sales from 1 January 2023, an intended replacement-home amount can remain asset-exempt for 24 months. An approved extension can increase that to 36 months. The exempt reserve receives lower-rate deeming.
Older home sales use the former 12-month exemption and approved 24-month extension limit, with ordinary deeming. Enter the same homeowner classification the exemption rules preserve during the replacement period.
The comparison treats spending as completed by the entered change date. A change dated after the assessment date has no financial effect. A home-sale reserve must not exceed the sale proceeds.
Estimate Student, Carer and Family Payments
Youth Allowance, Austudy and ABSTUDY use separate rate categories and income tests. Student income above $539 per fortnight reduces payment at 50 cents to $646, then 60 cents per dollar.
Dependent Youth Allowance and ABSTUDY compare personal reductions with the combined parental and maintenance reduction. Enter the confirmed weighted allocation divisor when the parental pool includes other children.
ABSTUDY has scheme-specific Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander qualifications. That input applies only to ABSTUDY Living Allowance. It creates no separate ethnicity-only payment amount.
For student special rates, select the confirmed long-term income-support category. JobSeeker special rates cover qualifying older long-term recipients, partial-capacity recipients or an exempt principal carer. The entered household category selects the corresponding rate.
A Family Tax Benefit child must satisfy its payment-compatibility rules. A child receiving Youth Allowance generally cannot also attract FTB child payments. Some ABSTUDY boarding arrangements have a specific exception.
Family Tax Benefit uses annual adjusted taxable income and the children’s eligible age and care. Shared-care percentages follow the FTB care table. Forty per cent care, for example, gives a 35% FTB share.
The FTB panel includes gross Rent Assistance before the Part A income and maintenance tests. It compares that result with the base-rate method.
Part B compares each eligible child’s age-based rate after applying their care share, then uses the highest amount. Partnered cases also apply the lower earner’s income test.
Fortnightly estimates exclude end-of-year supplements. The separate annual supplement figures assume the stated income and reconciliation conditions. Immunisation reductions, newborn additions, multiple births and blended-family adjustments are outside this standard household model.
Rent Assistance uses eligible private rent and household composition. Before income and maintenance tests, a single person with one child paying $600 fortnightly reaches the gross $263 maximum.
Reductions are apportioned between the child and rent components. Shared carers receive the higher gross result from the family and shared-carer rent thresholds.
For a household with only regular-care children, the ordinary income test applies to Rent Assistance alone. Government housing and non-qualifying rent produce no Rent Assistance.
The standalone Rent Assistance choice displays that component as its headline. Keep it separate when comparing a means-tested income-support payment. Additional payment-specific reductions can affect the combined amount.
Use the child-support calculator and childcare subsidy calculator for those formulas. Their entered outputs stay labelled and are never added again to the benefit estimate.
Model Home Equity Access Scheme Borrowing
The Home Equity Access Scheme is a repayable government loan secured against Australian real estate. Its former name was Pension Loans Scheme. The Centrelink reverse-mortgage wording commonly describes this public scheme.
The loan panel uses the younger partner’s age where relevant. It subtracts other secured debt and retained equity, rounds the remaining security down to $10,000 and applies the official age component.
In the official borrowing example, a single borrower aged 70 offers $256,000 as security. The $3,080 age component gives a $77,000 starting limit.
Pension and fortnightly loan payments together are limited to 150% of the maximum pension rate. Lump sums can reach 50% of the annual maximum and reduce the following 26 fortnights’ loan capacity.
The projection applies 3.95% annual interest daily and capitalises it every fortnight. It keeps today’s pension rates, starting-age capacity and property value fixed. It stops new advances when that capacity cannot cover them.
The no-negative-equity settlement figure caps the entered debt at property equity after other secured debt. The guarantee applies on settlement and does not erase interest in the running loan balance.
Borrowers must meet the scheme’s qualification requirements, including insurance and solvency. This projection does not approve credit or compare commercial reverse-mortgage products.
Calculate Compensation, Advances and Payment Differences
The compensation panel models agreed lump sums for personal injury that include lost earnings or lost earning capacity. It applies the 50% compensation rule to the gross aggregated settlement, after the permitted periodic-compensation repayment deduction.
For a $300,000 settlement with $20,000 of repayable periodic compensation, the compensation part is $140,000. At the September 2026 weekly divisor of $1,350.70, preclusion is 103 complete weeks.
Preclusion generally starts at injury or the day after periodic compensation ends. The recovery estimate uses the overlap with your entered past-payment period, assuming its total was paid evenly across those days.
The panel refuses the official estimator’s excluded contested awards and periodic-only cases. Settlement dates outside the bundled September schedules also have no calculated result.
Advances bring part of a future payment forward. The advance panel applies public pension or allowance limits and divides the proposed amount across 13 fortnights. Existing deductions remain separate.
A $1,000 advance produces a $76.92 fortnightly repayment before any existing deduction. Select the correct payment maximum and confirm the account-related conditions before comparing the indicative range.
The historical panel multiplies each supplied correct rate and actual paid rate by its period count. Three fortnights at a correct $1,200 and an actual $1,000 produce a $600 difference.
That arithmetic establishes neither backdating eligibility nor a recovery decision. Split the worksheet into separate rows whenever a rate or actual payment changes.
Read the Result and Check Actual Entitlements
Download the current panel’s assumptions with its results. Save a payment or family baseline before changing earnings, partnership, care or dependent children. Each panel retains that baseline for its comparison. The payment panel also compares an entered actual amount. Positive differences mean the estimate is higher.
The historical pension choices are separate 20 September to 31 December schedules for 2016, 2025 and 2026. They do not apply one year’s rules to every day of that year.
NSW and Queensland have the same federal pension, FTB and Rent Assistance formulas. State labels do not change these calculations. 澳洲养老金计算器 describes the Australian government Age Pension mode here.
Waiting periods, qualification decisions, timing of reported changes and later family-assistance reconciliation can explain a difference from an estimate. Compare the schedule and reporting period before treating the difference as an error.
Use a household budget to combine actual receipts and expenses after each component has been reconciled. Keep scheme loans, benefit payments and child-related subsidies distinct.
