Record Your CPD Activities

Record each activity’s title, provider, date and duration, then enter the units you claim. Choose its mandatory category and delivery format.

The tracker supports full-year solicitor requirements in NSW and Victoria for the displayed periods. Each uses ten units overall and at least one in each mandatory category. Exemptions, pro-rata requirements and other jurisdictions need a separate assessment.

Use the activity selector to edit an entry. Add activity creates a record marked for eligibility review. Remove activity deletes the selected entry from this tab. Save your file before removing records you need.

Enter an evidence reference, such as an attendance certificate filename. The tracker stores the reference as text and does not upload the evidence.

Total Units Against the Applicable Rules

Recorded units are the claims you enter. Provisionally claimable units apply the counting basis and caps only to entries you mark Assessed within the chosen period.

Seminars, interactive courses and postgraduate study count at one unit per hour. Passive audio/visual study and preparing or presenting CPD each have a five-unit annual cap. Legal committee work counts at one unit per two hours, capped at three. For legal articles, divide the word count by 1,000 and apply the five-unit annual cap.

The CPD year runs from 1 April to 31 March. Carry-in accepts only the preceding January to March, up to three units. Confirm that these units were not counted in the previous year and that its requirement was met.

Caps apply across categories. The tracker allocates units in activity-date order, then saved row order where dates match. An entry receives the lower of your claim and its duration or word-count basis, before caps apply.

The Law Society of NSW counting guidance and Victorian regulator’s solicitor guidance explain the applicable rules. Rule version uniform-solicitors-2015-v1 identifies this tracker’s calculation.

Category shortfalls remain visible even when your total reaches ten. General solicitor totals do not establish competence, specialist accreditation or regulatory compliance. Accredited specialists must separately assess their scheme’s requirements.

Save a Reviewable Activity Log

Save editable JSON retains every activity, evidence reference and note with the jurisdiction, period and rule version. It also includes a calculated review snapshot. Reopen that file to continue editing.

Export review CSV gives you activity rows, category totals and unresolved review items for a spreadsheet. Keep the JSON for reopening in this tracker. Reopening replaces the tab’s current entries only after a valid file is accepted.

Keep attendance and learning evidence for at least three years under the supported rules. Resolve eligibility questions and any exceptions before making your own declaration. Read the solicitor CPD guide for the wider professional obligations.

Keep Financial Evidence Learning in Context

The fictional example records 1.5 ethics units, one practice-management unit, two professional-skills units and one substantive-law unit. That is 5.5 provisionally claimable units, leaving 4.5 overall and no mandatory-category shortfall.

Bank-record analysis, tracing and expert-evidence learning can be recorded in the same way. A session’s title alone does not establish eligibility. Assess its educational content and relevance to your practice.

All processing happens in your browser without a law society account or sending the activity record to a provider. Unsaved changes disappear on reload or when the tab closes. Reset example restores the fictional entries. Start empty log removes them so you can begin your own record.
