PDF to Excel Converter

Convert readable PDF tables into checked spreadsheet rows, on your device.

Prepare the rows

1 PDF/QIF or up to 10 CSVs; 20 MB total, 100 PDF pages, 20,000 rows.

Comma-separated pages or ranges, such as 1-3,5. Leave blank for all pages.

Text starting before 120 is column 1, from 120 to 399 is column 2, then column 3.

Rotated coordinates. Preview joins; convert differing columns separately.

File contents stay in this tab. Nothing is uploaded or stored by this converter. Reloading clears the rows.

Column mapping

Columns start at 1; same per source unless overridden below.

Signed amounts.

Per source.

source,date column,description column,amount column per line.

Read files; fix split cells or headers. Keep each row’s source/page/line. Map to validate.

Load files or the example to begin. Example amounts are -10.50 and 25.00, with a net total of 14.50.

Raw text positions and source files

Preview: 100 rows. Downloads keep all mapped rows and original cells in a separate JSON column.

Safe text adds an apostrophe to formula-like text. Original text can run as a formula.

OFX checking-account export

Use one account and currency. Read the OFX export requirements.

point decimal

One ID per mapped row.

Map the PDF Table to Columns

Columns start at 1. The same map applies to each source unless you enter an override below.

One PDF or QIF, or up to 10 CSV files. Maximum 20 MB combined, 100 PDF pages and 20,000 rows.

Coordinates follow page rotation. Preview before joining. Convert different column positions separately.

One line per source: source number, date column, description column, amount column (for example, 2,3,1,2).

This converter reads existing digital text and groups it by page position. Choose pages, set a vertical region and enter column boundaries to separate the table.

The raw positions show each text item’s page coordinates. Adjust boundaries where words fall into the wrong column. Repair repeated headers or split rows in the editable preview before applying the map.

Original text stays beside the interpreted dates and signed amounts. Choose the day/month order explicitly for dates such as 03/04/2026. ISO dates use year-month-day.

A fictional bank statement converted to CSV

For a PDF-to-CSV bank statement example, take a fictional readable file named example-statement.pdf with date, description and signed-amount columns. Page 1 contains 03/04/2026, Example outflow and -10.50. Page 2 contains 04/04/2026, Example inflow and 25.00.

Read both pages, exclude headings with the PDF region and repair any split rows. Map date to column 1, description to column 2 and amount to column 3. Choose Day-month-year and the point decimal separator, then apply the mapping.

The interpreted dates must be 3 Apr 2026 and 4 Apr 2026. Check the debit of 10.50 and credit of 25.00 against their source pages. The two signed amounts must total 14.50 before you download CSV.

Keep example-statement.pdf and pages 1 and 2 in the exported source fields so either row can be traced back. The Load example rows button uses the same dates and amounts from example.csv to practise the mapping without a PDF.

Export Excel or CSV

Use this free local converter without an account. Excel XML downloads use the SpreadsheetML workbook format with typed number and text cells. Open the .xml file in Excel, then save as .xlsx if needed. CSV downloads use quoted, comma-separated UTF-8 text.

Both exports include the source filename, page and row. Compare row counts, negative signs and decimal separators with the original PDF before importing the file elsewhere.

The example has two rows: an outflow of 10.50 and an inflow of 25.00. The net control total is 14.50. A matching total checks the selected amounts but cannot reveal every missing or duplicated row.

Choose OFX, QIF or a Printable View

Bank QIF export needs a date, signed amount and one-line ASCII payee. It writes month/day/four-digit-year dates. QIF import accepts plain Bank records with D, T, P and M fields. Investment records and split transactions are rejected.

QIF export carries the mapped payee but drops imported memo fields. Use the original-cells column in CSV or Excel XML to retain the imported memo. Financial interchange exports omit source-page columns.

OFX export writes an XML checking-account statement. Enter the bank and account identifiers, currency and closing ledger balance. Supply the actual transaction IDs for each row. The converter rejects missing or duplicate IDs.

Use one account and one currency. Supply actual source transaction IDs and the closing ledger balance on the last transaction date. IDs prevent duplicate imports. These details are not inferred.

These formats have different fields, so conversion is not lossless. Use the printable view for mapped QIF rows and your browser’s print dialogue to save a PDF.

The OFX banking specification defines statement fields. The QIF format reference describes record indicators.

Handle Scans and Unsupported Layouts

A scanned image needs optical character recognition before this converter can read its table. This tool performs no OCR. Encrypted or damaged PDFs need a readable, unlocked copy.

Manual boundaries make the extraction deterministic. Complex layouts, rotated text within a page and changing columns require inspection and repair.

For bulk scanned statements, FinTrace’s bank-statement conversion workflow combines a searchable ledger with source-cited forensic findings. FinTrace analyses large PDF bundles and flags suspicious transactions for lawyers and forensic accountants.

Check the Converted Records

Compare a few rows from each page with the PDF, including an outflow and a refund. Check the first and last rows, then compare the signed total with an independent control total.

Formula-like text starts with characters such as =, +, - or @. The preview flags these cells. Safe CSV export adds an apostrophe to risky text while the original-cells column preserves the imported text.

Excel XML writes text as string cells without formulas. A correctly parsed numeric negative amount stays numeric. Original-text CSV can trigger formulas in spreadsheet applications, so choose it only when that behaviour is acceptable.

A successful export establishes that the selected rows could be converted. It does not establish the source’s authenticity or the completeness of the matter’s records.

Export Text and Prepare CSV Rows

PDF text export labels every selected page and preserves extracted digital text. Pages without text are labelled in the download. It does not recognise words in images.

Load compatible CSV files together to merge their rows. Choose a shared column map or enter per-source overrides. Select the date order before normalisation and keep separate batches for different currencies or incompatible amount conventions.

All mapped rows must validate before export. A malformed row stops conversion with its source and row number instead of disappearing from the result. Clear the tab’s data when you finish working with financial records.
