Timeline Maker

Put events in date order and keep their source references in an editable chronology or timeline.

Enter your events

Replace the synthetic example with up to 40 events from your own records.

YYYY, YYYY-MM or YYYY-MM-DD; blank if unknown. Add an end date for ranges.

Event 1: Transfer recorded in the statement
Entry 1

Event 2: Email refers to the earlier transfer
Entry 2

Event 3: Application lodged
Entry 3

Event details stay in this tab. Nothing is uploaded or saved automatically. Download the CSV before reloading or leaving the page.

Your chronology

Compare the source columns in the full schedule below. Same-date events retain input order.

Build the Chronology Table

Enter one event per row, with its date, description and source document and page. Person or account labels keep similar events distinguishable.

The synthetic example begins with a transfer in Statement A, page 3. A later email and application share a year. Their order within that year remains unknown.

A year or month stays a partial date. A range keeps both entered endpoints. Undated events appear last with a missing-date flag. Add a range when the source gives only a window.

Sort and View the Timeline

The table and timeline use the same entered events. Sorting uses each event’s earliest possible date, while the displayed label retains its original precision.

Events with the same sorting date stay in input order. Overlapping ranges can cover the same period. Neither display order nor chart spacing resolves their actual sequence.

Use Transfer for money movements, Communication for correspondence and Procedural for steps such as an application or hearing. Other holds events outside those categories.

Possible duplicates remain in the schedule with a flag. The tool compares the entered fields and never deletes a repeated event automatically.

Export a Reviewable Template

Edit the event fields in the workspace. Download the sorted CSV to continue editing in a spreadsheet. It retains the event ID, entered dates, description, labels, source references, category and flags.

Missing dates and references remain visible in the export. A spreadsheet formula prefix is stored as text for safer opening.

A chronology arranges what you enter. It does not establish causation or prove a disputed event. Keep an allegation distinguishable in its description and retain the record supporting it.

Use the chronology alongside a brief of evidence to connect the sequence to its underlying documents.

Choose and Export a Timeline View

Choose the chronology table to compare source columns. The vertical timeline stacks the same events. Horizontal view places them in a scrollable row.

Download a PNG chart for a presentation, including PowerPoint. The image keeps source references and partial dates visible. It is a static picture, so regenerate it after editing the events.

Choose a short sequence for a presentation slide. Keep the full CSV with the matter records so reviewers can read the longer descriptions and references.
