ANZ Bank Statements: Getting Them for a Matter

Get an ANZ statement for a matter: download a PDF from Internet Banking, the ANZ App or ANZ Plus, or request older, closed account and loan statements.

To get an ANZ bank statement for a matter, download the PDF through the account holder’s online banking or request the missing periods from ANZ. ANZ Plus has a separate statement route. Collect each account’s complete periods, including closed accounts, before comparing transactions across the matter.

Downloading Statements Online

Use ANZ Internet Banking to download issued statement PDFs for the linked account.

  1. Sign in and open the account from the homepage.
  2. Choose View statements and select the account from the list.
  3. Find the statement covering the required period and choose Download.
  4. Save the PDF, then repeat for the remaining periods.

Open the saved file and check the account number, period and page count. Keep the bank’s original PDF in the matter file. A browser pop-up block can prevent the document opening, so allow the statement window if Download appears to do nothing.

ANZ says online statement history builds up to seven years. Older accounts’ available history depends on when online statements became available for that account. A seven-year maximum does not mean every account displays seven years.

For a period that has not closed, ANZ’s account guidance directs customers to order an interim statement. Choose View Statements and Notices, then Order a Replacement Statement. Specify the required period. Distinguish that request from a recent Transaction Report when asking the client for documents.

Getting Statements in the App

In the ANZ App, select the open account, tap Statements, open the document and use the share control to save its PDF. For closed accounts, use More, then View statements. Choose the account near the bottom of the list. ANZ’s statement help page explains both routes.

For an ANZ Plus bank statement, use the ANZ Plus app instead.

  1. Open the Profile icon.
  2. Tap Statements.
  3. Select the required account statement and save the document using the app’s available download or share control.

ANZ Plus issues monthly deposit-account statements, usually shortly after month end. Include the Everyday account and each Growth Saver or Flex Saver account the client holds, plus any joint accounts. Transactions appear by processing date, which can differ from the timing shown in the app.

If a required period is absent, contact a Coach through the ANZ Plus app and request that account’s statement for the missing period. ANZ Plus’s terms also allow customers to request more frequent statements through a Coach. Use the account’s actual opening date when defining the request.

Statements vs Transaction Listings

Keep the ANZ statement PDF as the period record and use transaction listings as supporting analysis material. A statement identifies the account holder and account, defines the statement period and records opening and closing balances. Those balances let you reconcile one period with the next.

A transaction listing reflects the range and information selected for that listing. It can omit account identification or the balances needed to explain the whole period. A screenshot showing recent activity can also leave out earlier pages or settled transactions.

ANZ supports transaction exports for open accounts. A comma-separated values (CSV) file helps an analyst sort transactions and calculate totals, but it does not replace the issued statement. Keep both if the client supplies both. Use the PDF-to-Excel guide for conversion and checking steps.

Requesting Older or Closed Account Statements

Request replacement statements for missing periods through the online form, or contact ANZ when the account is no longer accessible.

  1. In Internet Banking, select View statements, then Order a replacement statement.
  2. Enter the account, required date ranges and delivery method, then submit.
  3. Keep the request reference and compare the response with the periods requested.

ANZ also accepts requests through Support, then Message Us in the ANZ App. Its published delivery guidance is two business days by email or three to five business days by mail, once processed. Treat processing and delivery as separate stages when managing a matter deadline.

If all linked accounts are closed, ANZ says digital statement access is lost. Use the bank’s telephone or branch route for those records. The account help page gives 13 13 14 for statement-copy requests.

For an old ANZ Access Advantage account, give the account holder’s full name and former names, BSB and account number if held. Include former addresses, approximate opening or closure details and the exact periods required. Attach an old statement if it helps identify the account. An unused account still needs its own request if it falls within the matter’s period.

Ask ANZ to identify any charge for the specific retrieval before authorising it. The general fees booklet separately lists fees for specially prepared transaction lists. Requesting that work is different from obtaining copies of issued statements. For requests spanning several banks, use the older bank statements guide.

Credit Card, Loan and Other Account Statements

Collect each credit card and loan account’s own statements, even when repayments already appear in the transaction account.

For an ANZ credit card statement, choose the credit card account in Internet Banking or the ANZ App and use the statement route described above. Cancelled cards appear with closed accounts in the app. Online eligibility depends on account authority, so an additional consumer-card holder cannot assume they have the primary holder’s statement access.

For an ANZ home loan statement or personal loan statement, select the loan account and download the issued periods. Eligible loans have online statements. ANZ’s Consumer Lending Terms, section 19, provide for home and personal loan statements at least every six months. More frequent statements can be required by the customer or ANZ. Order missing copies or an interim period instead of treating the scheduled cycle as a reason to leave a gap.

Ask separately about offset accounts, business transaction accounts and business savings accounts. An offset account contains its own receipts and spending, while the loan account records the debt. A business account’s signatory permissions can determine online access. Record each legal account holder, including companies and trusts, rather than treating all accounts a director can access as personal accounts.

Getting Statements for Someone Else’s Account

Establish the representative’s authority before requesting another person’s ANZ statements.

For a deceased customer, notify ANZ Bereavement Services and identify the authorised estate representative. Supply certified copies of the death certificate and the will if available. ANZ can require probate or letters of administration and identification, depending on the estate and the representative. Its authorised estate representatives can request account information, including statements. A solicitor representing the estate also needs the professional identification or engagement material ANZ requests.

Ask for the historical periods required for the estate investigation as well as statements up to account closure. A balance at death alone does not show earlier attorney transactions or transfers.

An attorney must first lodge the power of attorney at an ANZ branch. Take the original or certified document and accepted identification. ANZ grants access after identifying the attorney. Then request statements within the authority’s scope through the registered access or branch channel.

For a living client’s lawyer, obtain a signed authority identifying the client, firm and accounts. Define the statement periods and authorise ANZ to release those records to the named firm. Submit it with the request and the identification ANZ requires. The client can alternatively download the PDFs and send them to you through your firm’s document channel.

When the Account Holder Will Not Provide Them

Request the identified ANZ statements from the account holder first, then use the proceeding’s disclosure process if the request remains unanswered.

In Australian family law property proceedings, the duty of disclosure covers relevant financial information and continues through the case. A lawyer can seek disclosure orders for missing statements. The applicable powers in an estate or insolvency matter depend on that proceeding and the requesting person’s role.

Where records must come directly from ANZ, a subpoena to produce is a further route. The court’s subpoena guidance directs parties to attempt to obtain documents first. These are escalation options, not compulsory consecutive steps in every case.

ANZ’s legal-documents page identifies its Proper Officer and statutory-compliance contact. The records ANZ produces depend on the accounts, periods and documents specified in the subpoena. Use the bank-records subpoena guide for the separate court procedure.

Checking the Statements Before Analysis

Check completeness by account and period before analysing the ANZ bundle.

  1. List every supplied account and its holder, including ANZ Plus accounts and closed accounts.
  2. Compare each statement’s start and end with the period the matter requires.
  3. Match each closing balance to the next opening balance and identify missing pages or periods.
  4. Follow transfers to linked accounts and payments to credit cards, then request the corresponding statements where relevant.

A move from ANZ to ANZ Plus requires records on both sides. Match the final ANZ period with the first ANZ Plus period and the transfer between them. Include the old account’s closure statement. For example, a four-year request can contain a closed Access Advantage account, a continuing credit card and a newer ANZ Plus account. None supplies the others’ complete history.

Keep a list of outstanding periods and requests. For property proceedings, the divorce bank statements guide helps define the records required beyond this bank-specific collection process.

FinTrace saves hours of statement review by taking ANZ PDFs and scanned paper as held, without prior sorting or renaming. The service turns the supplied accounts into one searchable Excel ledger and a clear findings report. It flags suspicious transactions and gaps, with each finding citing the source PDF filename and page. Lawyers and forensic accountants have the supporting evidence at hand and more time for the matter’s analysis.

Once the account and period list is ready, request a matter assessment with the approximate pages, accounts and timeframe. Send statements after assessment and quote acceptance.
