Choose a local PDF, then create a working copy.

Keep the source. Image copy removes selectable text and interactive document features.

Choose Compression Settings

Use Lossless mode first for a PDF with searchable statement text. It rewrites the PDF without rasterising its pages. The object-compression choice packs PDF objects into compressed streams, without changing image resolution.

For an image-heavy scan, choose Image copy and set the resolution and JPEG quality. Lower settings can reduce bytes but blur small amounts. The output contains a new page image for each source page.

Choose 100, 150 or 200 dpi and 60%, 80% or 95% JPEG quality. These settings apply to the whole rendered page, including any text. They do not selectively downsample embedded images while keeping a text layer.

The original size appears after selection. The result size cannot be estimated reliably from the settings alone, so the tool measures the generated bytes. A PDF that is already compressed can grow.

Compare Size and Readability

This free PDF compress tool works locally without an account. It accepts one PDF up to 30 MiB with at most 100 pages. Image processing also has a 12-million-pixel limit per page. A device can run out of memory within these limits.

Create the working copy, choose a page and compare both previews. Use 200% or 300% zoom to inspect dense statement text, decimal points and minus signs. Scroll each preview to compare the same transaction.

The best compression setting is the smallest copy that preserves the detail your task needs. A smaller result is unsuitable when a transaction amount becomes hard to distinguish. Try higher image quality or keep the lossless copy.

Encrypted PDFs and detected signature fields are refused. Use an authorised unlocked source for encrypted files. Keep signed originals for signature validation and obtain a separate unsigned working copy. This tool does not validate authenticity.

Save and Verify the Working Copy

The results show actual file sizes, percentage reduction and the verified page count. An optional target size only compares the result with your upload limit. For example, reducing 10 MiB to 6 MiB saves 40%.

Image copy removes searchable text, annotations, links, bookmarks and form fields. Their visible appearances can become part of the image, but the original interactive features are lost. Attachments and source metadata are omitted.

Lossless mode checks extracted text and page counts after rewriting. It retains the existing document objects, so it is unsuitable for removing private metadata or attachments. Check annotations, form appearances and links in your PDF reader.

Download the working copy and reopen that exact file in another PDF reader. Check every page, especially faint digits and small print. Try selecting text if you need searchability. Retain the original alongside the copy.

Use the PDF tools directory for other local document tasks. Compression changes a working copy’s size and readability; it does not establish that the underlying records are complete.
