PDF Unlock Tool
Open a PDF with its supplied password and save an authorised unencrypted working copy on your device.
Open your authorised PDF
Choose a PDF up to 20 MiB and 40 pages.
Enter the password supplied by the file owner.
The file and password stay in this browser tab. Nothing is uploaded.
Open With a Valid Password
The PDF unlock tool uses your supplied password to open a local PDF and create an unencrypted working copy. It cannot recover forgotten passwords.
Choose the file, enter its password and confirm that you have authority to save a copy. An incorrect password leaves the original unchanged.
A password error means the supplied password did not open the file. An unsupported-encryption message means this browser workflow cannot process its security settings. A damaged-file message means the PDF cannot be read.
Request the correct password from the sender after a password error. For damaged files, request a fresh copy. Use a PDF application that supports the document’s security settings after an unsupported-encryption result.
Save an Authorised Working Copy
The result lists the PDF’s printing and copying permissions, with its modification and assembly restrictions. Export requires printing and copying permission plus your authority confirmation.
Technical permissions do not decide whether your intended use is authorised. Confirm the sender’s instructions and any disclosure restrictions before saving or sharing the copy.
The tool refuses PDFs with detected signatures or form fields. Rewriting a signed document changes the bytes on which its signature depends. Preserve the signed original and request an authorised unsigned working copy.
Supported export rewrites the PDF’s objects without rasterising its pages. Existing readable text remains text. The working copy is unencrypted, so store it with the controls your matter requires.
Check the Copy and Clear the Session
Before enabling download, the tool reopens the output without a password. It compares page count, page dimensions and extracted text against the authorised source.
Open the downloaded PDF in another reader. Compare every page with the original, including small text and scanned pages. Matching extracted text cannot prove that every image or annotation renders correctly.
Clear session removes the file selection and password field, revokes the download link and terminates the processing worker. Passwords stay out of URLs, storage and analytics.
Browser runtimes can retain memory copies beyond the page’s control. Clearing the session cannot guarantee physical memory erasure. Close the tab when you finish and keep the original unchanged.
